Treatment Options For My Bone Cancer

The sooner we get this resolved the better

So it turns out that the two bone cancerous lesions are in my lower back and my right femur. My oncologist is more worried about the one in my femur because if the fracture expands, the leg could break, which would involve surgery, hospitalization, etc.

I don’t need more misery in my life right now, so I asked the doctor what I could do to prevent the worst case. Her advice? Minimize using that leg. I can walk to the bathroom, etc., but need to do so as little as possible. I can drive short distances. But no fast motions, lifting weight, etc. No weight on that area.

Both those areas hurt which is making me cranky. I hate being in pain and I also hate the hard core pain relievers since they make me loopy. So I have to find compromises. I’ll dope myself in the evening so I can sleep, and figure out how to endure some pain during the day so I can think.

Fortunately the oncologist told me they could get me into treatment right away. Today I go in for a planning session and then for the next 2 weeks I will go in every day for radiation pinpointing those two areas.

In an ideal world, I wouldn’t have to go through any of this, but that’s not where I live right now.
