Twitter Hosts a Debate

This election season continues to interest

Yesterday, Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, launched his presidential bid on Twitter. Elon Musk was hosting the “event” while David Sacks was the moderator.

As reported by most news sites, glitches marred the event. Yet while that fact seemed to lead the story, what was de-emphasized was something that caught my attention. What does it take to cause Twitter servers to crash?

The fact that 700,000 people tried to join the event.

Which means that it was actually a success for the DeSantis campaign in that there was a lot of interest. He apparently raised $1 million.

And p*ssed off Donald Trump who kept posting his typical brand of juvenile insults, except he got into such weird territory that even his loyal sycophants seemed confused.

I didn’t bother to try to catch the event while it was happening, but caught YouTube feed after the fact. No interruptions or glitches to deal with.

Just like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson add interest to the Dem side while being ignored or downplayed by the media, so it seems that DeSantis is being covered in a more negative fashion than he might deserve.
