unfortunately, grocery stores often only make a 2% or 3% profit. that isn't very much in retail. if they raise prices, that's not good for consumers, many of whom are also poor.

more and more I think we need something like the Andrew Yang plan - everyone gets $1000 a month. No strings attached. If you want to spend the money on cake or guitar lessons - go for it.

Also, there are many store employees who can't afford the product. I wonder how many people on a Tesla assembly line or sales people who work for Tiffany can actually afford the product? But it's different when it's food...
