We need a rational, reasonable and scientific attempt to actually solve the problem instead of letting emotions guide us.

Right now, we ban drugs and people still manage to get them even in prison. Drugs come across the border. If we banned guns, what would stop the guns from coming across the border?

The Uvalde shooter had a history of torturing animals. So do most mass murderers. Why do we not crack down harder on those who abuse animals and give those laws some real teeth?

Why are schools such soft targets? Shooter target schools, malls, and churches because they are soft targets. To protect our children, maybe we need to have just one point of access and have an armed and trained security guard present. Allow teachers (but don't require them) to carry a concealed weapoin if they want and have been trained to safely carry it.

Raise the age for buying a firearm to 21, at least for young men... or maybe even raise it to 25 for things like the AR-15. I woudln't ban it however, because there are certain situations where people have actually saved lives by using it.

People who call for banning guns are ignorant of history. Notice that those in power never disarm themselves - if they ban guns, there would be exceptions for the security details of politicians, moguls, and celebrities. Because the rich and powerful will always make sure they are safe.
