What a Difference Home Made Makes
Everything seems better when it’s not mass produced
Today I made a bowl of chicken and rice soup. I had some leftover chicken and rice casserole in the freezer that I thawed out, which I used as the base. The casserole had been made with pasture raised chicken, organic brown and wild rice, and broccoli.
To make a large bowl of soup, I took this base, cut the chicken into smaller pieces, added pastured chicken bone broth, organic mixed veggies, and organic fresh thyme.
It was delicious, and it’s easy to see that, unlike canned chicken soup, it’s got plenty of actual chicken — about 3 ounces. It’s also not overly salty, doesn’t overdo the rice, and uses plenty of veggies. It’s got 23 gms of protein and no added oils so it’s actually super healthy as well as being tasty.
Another advantage to home made? It has ingredients I like and none of the ones I don’t.
Above is a coaster that a friend of mine made. It’s part of a set of 4 dragons— one each in red, purple, blue, and dark gray. She has many other hand-crafted designs which she sells on Etsy.
