Seventeen years ago, the SARS virus killed about 800 people. It originated in China, which has now spawned yet another plague, the Wuhan Coronavirus.

How did this happen?

Well, the Chinese like to serve exotic animals at their fancy dinner parties. Some of these animals are served alive. Imagine that. Some of these animals are endangered. The mainland Chinese are a major factor in species loss.

China is a country with one of the highest IQs in the world, yet they cannot seem to fathom that a tiger, for example, is more than a meal. They don’t seem to understand why it’s wrong to boil a cat alive or beat a dog to death.

Then again, they also incarcerate large numbers of their own people for their religious beliefs (Christians, Falun Gong, Muslims). They invaded Tibet, destroyed temples and oppress the people. They forced millions of women to abort their babies. And we’ve seen how they’ve handled Hong Kong. Why are we surprised at their abysmal cruelty towards nature?

Unfortunately for them and the world, nature can strike back.
