I am Indian, so I don't always enjoy reading the portrayal of Indians in British literature of previous eras, just like many today don't enjoy Guess Who's Coming to Dinner or Gone with the Wind. That doesn't mean, though, that those weren't accurate portrayals of historical attitudes.
