while that is a good point, OTOH, if your spouse or boyfriend is a genuinely good guy who doesn't oppress women, then it seems unfair to penalize him for other peoples' sexism.

To me, it's not about the money earned but about the time put in.

If you both work 40 hours a week, I think the chores should be split pretty evenly.

OTOH, if he works 60 hours a week and you work 40 - then yeah, do more of the housework. Of course, hopefully the two of you talked about this before he started putting in the 60 hour weeks. If you're going to feel resentful that he's putting in so many hours, you need to let him know up front.
