Why can’t airplanes just provide decent seats? Not just for fat people, but for all of us? Some people are quite tall and they also find it miserable. Yet while the average American has grown in size, airline seats have gotten smaller.

If an airline offered more comfortable seats (a few inches wider, a few inches more legroom) for a higher price (say, 15–20%) I’d be willing to pay it, particularly on long flights.
