women seek a relationship and men seek sex - in very simplistic terms. Obviously there are women who just want sex and men who crave relationships. But the sexes are different, otherwise there wouldn't exist stereotypes.

This can be seen among lesbians and gay men - the joke among lesbians is that on the second date there is a moving van. with gay men... anyone who is familiar with the Studio 54 days in NYC knows why gay men are thought to be promiscuous.

Yet the reality is that women enjoy sex if the man knows what he's doing and men enjoy relationships if the woman gives him space. So why is it so hard for people to hook-up?

I think it comes down to expectations. Men will probably hook up with any woman, especially if he is drunk. However, he will be picky about his relationships. which can make women wary.

But women will hook up with "top tier" men. meanwhile, they might actually be willing to have a relationship with a normal guy but the system makes that harder than it was for our grandparents.

it's stupid because it deprives both men and women of sex and relationships. which they both actually want.
