Yeah, except places with lots of gun control, like Chicago, have higher rates of murder than places with less gun control.
Of course, an argument can be made that Chicagoland criminals get their weapons from Indiana. Which is a good point.
However, where do New Yorkers get their weapons from? New York has super strict gun laws, and it's not like New Jersey or New England are bastions of the NRA.
Meanwhile, the Boston bomber used a pressure cooker, and only 7% of murders in the US, according to FBI statistics, occur due to guns.
A friend of mine who is now in his 70s remembers when he was in highschool he would take his rifle to school because he was part of a shooting club. They left their weapons in the car. They never shot anyone. If he got into it with someone, they'd punch each other, but no one thought of getting the weapon from their vehicle. My friend said that was unthinkable.
Now a day doesn't go by without some kid shooting other kids in our big cities. Do we really think if we banned guns the violence would stop?
We might make it harder to kill lots of people, but in Germany they were driving cars into Christmas markets to kill people. Cars can kill lots of people too...
