Yes, you are correct, PET scans are better for some applications. That is why doctors use different tests - they each have strengths and weaknesses.

The article you reference however was written immediately after I had my PET scans and before I crashed. I wanted to write something while the experience was fresh in my mind because I think people who are going through cancer can relate to that immediacy and emotions.
