You Can Love Children But Not Want Any Of Your Own
I love visiting friends with children, and also love going home after
I just got home from spending a wonderful evening with good friends.
The wife and I relate on an emotional level and we are also both artists. But I also have an engineering degree, so I talk geek with the husband sometimes. And all three of us love a lot of the same music.
And then there are the kids…
They are bright and quirky and sweet.
I love the kids, too. But…
They are kids.
Even good children get cranky and whiny sometimes. They can be too loud. They interrupt. They’re messy.
It doesn’t mean they are bad. They are… children.
The parents gently set limits. Now that I’m close enough to them, I do too, sometimes. Though I always make sure the parents are OK with it. After all, these are their kids.
But even good kids can be exhausting.
When I was a little girl, I once asked my mother if I could trade my baby brother in for a puppy. He was a fussy baby who spent a lot of his waking hours having temper tantrums. According to my mother, I was a quiet, cheerful child. Having him around…
