You don’t want to pay for an ugly mask

Get over it and show some love to the person who made it

I just received two masks in the mail from a friend who is a seamstress. This is her real job. She supports herself by sewing and crafting beautiful things which she sells on Etsy and her online store.

She charged me for the masks. I happily paid. This is her job.

Some people are complaining about how much they have to pay for a mask. Some people complain that they have to pay at all. Others complain that the color they want is not in stock or that they have to accept hand-ties in lieu of elastic.

I have news for these people.

If someone normally sews for a living, that person deserves a decent wage for their work. We can quibble over what a decent wage is, but we should all agree that they deserve one.

If you don’t want to pay what someone asks for a mask, find another source. What, you say, there are no other sources? Then, unless the person is gouging you (and there are no reports of people doing so), STFU.

The masks I got from my friend are carefully sewn with pleats and soft edges. She crafted the ties from matching fabric. It is a high quality product that should survive many washes. It took her time and effort to make.
