You have reading comprehension issues, or you did not read what I wrote.
I wrote: "But of course there are people of alternative faiths, or no faith at all, who also go through tough times and thrive." - so therefore, I, a person of faith, am not acting like I am the only one who has struggles or even implying that my particular faith is the only answer.
I have recently written on Medium giving credit to medical personnel. I wrote an article devoted to a very kind man who bathed me when I was in the hospital after my brain surgery.
So your stereotypes and prejudices do not fit me.
I am a tolerant person so I don't have any issue with people who don't share my beliefs as long as they are respectful. Mutual respect is far more important to a civilized society than shared beliefs since, let's face it, any human being can be an a**, whether they are a religious person or an atheist. There are Christians I avoid because they are jerks and Muslims, agnostics, etc., who I am quite good friends with because they are kind, decent people.
I realize you have a rational prejudice against religion based on your own very real experiences, and I'm not trying to invalidate that, just point out that your POV is not the only one and people who disagree with you do so based on their own, equally valid, experiences.
